... The Tully Boys and Girls won the "C" divisions of the
Clarence Invitational (Section 6) ... The Tully boys beat
Addison (34 to 56) ... Addison is currently the #4 ranked
Class "C" team in NY State ... Lopez Lomong and Dominick
Luka finished first and second again (same of 16:14.0) ... the
time was the second fastest of the day ... Andrew Whitback
(East Rochester) ran the fastest time (16:11.0) in the "A" Race.
The Tully girls beat Honeoye and
East Rochester (80-107-125) ... Laura Potter finished second
(21:10) in her best race of the year ... the victory was pleasing,
especially since Heather Roberts, Jessica McAnaney, Michelle Lopez and
Lizzie Mills stayed home due to sickness or injury.

Classic (at Disney Sports Center, Orlando, FL)
... Tully and Cato-Meridian flew to the Disney
Wide-World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL to run in the Disney Cross
Country Classic on Friday afternoon ... both teams competed in the 1A
division race in the afternoon ... unfortunately, the temperature
was in the low 90s and it was humid ... fortunately, the race
course is relatively easy ...

Boys race (1A) ... Tully was the easy team winner
(their overall places were 1, 2, 5, 12, 13) with
Lopez Lomong (16:20.7) and Dominick Luka (16:30.2) finishing first and second
as usual ... Sean Reinhardt (17:11.5) was fifth, Lief Brunet
12th (17:44.2) and Tom Caracci 13th (17:46.3) ... Cato
Meridian's Chris Tucker (17:40.3) and Adam Frank (17:40.3)
tied for tenth.
Girls race (1A) ... The
top four teams were (1) Shorecrest Prep, FL (43 pts), (2) Tully
(87 pts), (3) Cato-Meridian (98 pts) and (4) Albertus Magnus,
NY (104 pts) ... The individual race winner was Jessica Marlier
(Walker Mem Acad, FL; 20:40) ... Tully finishers included:
Sandi Ellis (7th, 22;17), Laura Potter (10th, 22:42), Heather Roberts
(17th, 23:45), Liz Bailey (26th, 23:47), Brianna Seeley (37th, 24:34),
and Emily Schmidt (60th, 26:44) ... Cato-Meridian finishers
included: Kali Cole (5th, 22:08), Lisa Cole (6th, 22:09), Kate
Modafferi (18th, 23:29), Jessica Bramble (28th, 23:52) and Amber Ross
(51st, 25:57).

match-up of the number 1 and number 5 ranked boys teams in the State, top
ranked Shenendehowa (class A, section 2) edged Sauquoit Valley
(class C, section 3) by a close score of 27 to 33 ... Shen took
places 1, 4, 6, 7, 9 while Sauquoit took 2, 3, 5, 8, 15 ... complete

in the renewal of the Chittenango Invitational (weather was warm and
partly sunny) ... [Meet Photos] Boys Varsity
... in Race One, Tully (42) edged FM (46) and
Chittenango (64) ... once again, Tully's Lopez Lomong
and Dominick Luka ran "in tandem" with Lomong crossing the
finish slightly in front Luka ... the winning time (16:38) shattered
the course record (17:29) ... Andrew Engbretson (FM, 18:03) was
3rd with Chittenango's Ozzie Myers (18:10) and Andrew
Foxenberg (18:11) 4th and 5th ..... in Race Two, CBA
(41) edged Canastota (45) and Cazenovia (56) ... South
Lewis' Josh Arthur (17:15) and Bobby Perkins (17:29)
finished 1st and 2nd ... Tom Brower (CBA, 17:32) was a good
3rd.
Girls Varsity ... in
Race One, Corcoran (55) edged Chittenango (58) and
FM (65) ... FM's Brittany Crawford (20:13) and Katie
Losecco (20:51) ran well finishing 1st and 2nd ... Kaitlin Rees
(Oneida, 21:17) was 3rd ..... in Race Two, Canastota
(30) won handily over Phoenix (57) and Tully (73) ...
Ashley Hughes (Phoenix, 19:45) won the race easily with the
fastest girl's time of day.

Unique race and scoring format (six runners count) ...

Boys ... In the team
scoring, Sauquoit Valley edged Tully and Central
Square (39-45-49) ... Individually, Dominick Luka (Tully,
15:37.7), Lopez Lomong (Tully, 15:38.4) and Dan McKenna
(Liverpool, 15:43.2) all broke the course record (previously held by
Jason Meany (CBA), 15:49 in 1996) ... Luka, Lomong, McKenna and
Jeff Belge (Cent Sq, 16:16) ran together through the opening mile and a
half before Luka and Lomong opened a several second gap on McKenna
which they held to the finish ... Luka (fourth in the
Federation 800 meter track race in June (1:54.57) out-sprinted Lomong
in the final 50 meters to win ... Last year, Dan McKenna won
this race with a time of 16:10 (the 6th fastest time ever on the race
course), so the performances by the top four finishers are excellent!
Sauquoit Valley (currently
ranked 2nd in NYS overall) and Tully are both Class C schools
this year ... counting the top five runners in this meet, Sauquoit had
a two point advantage ... the sectional race (slated for Nov 2) could
be very close! ... the teams have mostly different invitational schedules for
the the remainder of the season ... but another match-up is possible
at the ESM Invitational on Sept 21 (this contradicts an earlier report
posted here).
Girls ... Kayleigh Wheeless
(Westhill, 19:19) won the girl's race handily ... she was never
pressed throughout ... In the team scoring, Westhill edged Liverpool 34 to 36 ... a very young and talented Canastota
team was 3rd (69 points) and Tully was 4th (100 pts).
