The highlight of the meet was an 800 meter race showdown between Nichole Lister (South Jefferson) and Chelsea Berry (Lowville) ... Berry won by 0.3 seconds in 2:16.0 ... Chelsea Berry (a junior) typically runs the dash events (100, 200, 400) and has been a State champion in the small school division (she recently won the Rome Invite 400m in 56.8) ... At this meet, Chelsea also won 200m, triple jump and anchored the winning 4x400 relay ... The 800 meters was an unfamiliar race for Berry (she ran even splits of 68-68 despite speeding up and slowing down throughout the race) ... she followed Lister, passed her, but was beginning to fade at the finish ... Earlier in the season, Berry beat Lister in a 400 meter race ... Nichole Lister came back to run a season's best 4:44.6 in  the 1500m ... Interestingly, Chelsea Berry's main sport is soccer.
