800 Meters ... early in the race ...
800 Meters ... coming to the finish ... winner Melissa Usack (Lansing, 2:23.8, untied shoe-lace) ... following are Jody Foland (Newfield, 2:26.8) and Jessica Bush (Dryden, 2:27.1)
3000 Meters ... Sarah Allen (Southern Cayuga) and Caitlin Palmer (Thomas A. Edison ... aka Elmira Heights) ... the slower of two divisions had already been run ... this seeded division was started with darkening clouds approaching from the southwest ... Sarah and Caitlin had separated themselves from the field through an opening 800 meters of 2:43 ... Sarah then opened a gap and passed the 1500m mark in a very good 5:09 and appeared to be on her way a big PR ... with only two laps remaining (and Sarah not slowing down much), an official shouted that lightening was just sighted and everybody must clear the field ... the race was stopped and an official made Sarah leave the track with only 500 meters remaining! ... I left the track and returned home - I don't the outcome of the race or how it will be decided ... Update - meet officials decided to drop the girls 3000 meter race from the meet
