Entering the upcoming XC season (2026), four returning Class A runners have an
individual speed rating of 180 or higher ... and 26 have an individual speed rating
of 170 or higher ... 18 of the top 26 runners with the highest retuning speed
ratings are seniors.

The top 8 Class A runners below are profiled above ... Overall, this could be a
very competitive field of runners including other runners.

A big group of Class A returners have an individual speed rating in the 170s, and 
some of them are likely to improve ... It happens every year.

 CLASS B

Ryan Sykes was the top-rated Class A runner and overall top-rated runner entering 
last year's XC season ... This year Ryan Syke's team drops to Class B and Ryan is
the only returning runner that has achieved speed ratings in the 190s ... Therefore
he is the pre-season favorite in Class B and State-wide.

Ethan Owen is the only other Class B runner with speed ratings in the 180s.

Many other good Class B runners have multiple speed ratings in the 170s ... and
they look very competitive ... It is likely these and other runners will be stepping
up and challenging at the State Meet ... It could be a number of runners listed below
or maybe somebody new!

Class C has ten returners with overall speed ratings of 171 or higher (4 more
than last year) ... the top four Class C runners listed below are profiled above.

East Aurora's Jonah Sebolt and Max Fraser are the top two returning runners from last
year's State Class C race (the 6 runners who finished ahead of them all graduated).
They are also the only two returning Class C runners with a speed rating in the 180s.

Desmond Lee finished 4th in last year's State Class D (but the top 3 runners graduated).
And he did have one 179 speed rating and an overall speed rating of 176.
 
Class C has other good returning runners that could develop into serious contenders ... 
7 of these other runners have a speed rating high between 179 and 171 which indicates
talent ... and I expect some will be stepping up.
