How To Read the Table Information: The number following the name is the school grade for the 2018 XC season. The "Class" in parentheses pertains to the 2018 XC season.  The XC data listed below the name are, in order, the race name, race date, place, actual race time, and speed rating (higher is faster).  Selected track data are also listed for most runners ... Girls XC performance database and Girls track & field performance database are available on separate web-pages.

 Katelyn Tuohy had the best XC season performance-wise by any harrier in the history of NY cross country ... Katelyn won NXN Nationals by an impressive 40 seconds ... she shattered the course records at Bowdoin and Van Cortlandt Parks ... and she had three ratings in the 170s (only time I have ever seen that by a female) ... she was undefeated and won all her races by large margins, and was obviously, the Overall XC Runner-of-the Year in NY in 2017.

Katelyn has set multiple NY State & National Class Records during both Indoor and Outdoor Track ... Won the New Balance National Outdoor Mile race in a National Record time of 4:33.87 ... also set National Records at 5K indoors (15:37.12) and 3200 meters outdoors (9:47.88).

Katelyn Tuohy enters the 2018 season as the top-rated runner in the Nation ... It will be very interesting to see her performance level this coming season.

 Kelsey Chmiel was the NY State Junior Runner-of-the-Year in XC last year ... Kelsey finished an outstanding 2nd at NXN Nationals making her the #2 returning NXN runner behind only Kately Tuohy ... After NXN, Kelsey went to Scotland as part of a US Junior squad and won the Great Edinburgh 4K Junior race (I approximated her speed rating as 160) ... she also won the Great American race in North Carolina and Ocean State race in Rhode Island ... in the previous XC season, she won major races in Virginia and Georgia ... Kelsey runs well under any conditions and any locations.

As usual, Kelsey had excellent track performances both indoor and outdoor ... Won the NY State Indoor 3000 meters (9:27.88) ... was 2nd in the 2-Mile at New Balance Indoor Nationals (10:02.36) and 4th at Outdoor Nationals (10:09.65) ... was 2nd in the Millrose Games Mile (4:44.55) .....  On June 2, 2018 (the day after Section 2 State Qualifiers), Kelsey finished 10th at the Freihofer's 5K Run for Women running 16:44.4.

As can be seen below, Claire performed remarkably well in her previous years of XC ..... Set major track PRs at 3000m (9:53.54) and 1500m (4:41.76) ... showed improved speed at 800m (2:16.51 relay split) ... Claire Walters enters the 2018 season as a top national harrier.

 Brooke Rauber was the NY State Freshman Runner-of-the-Year in XC (she was 8th-Grade Runner-of-the-Year previously) ... Brooke is the two-time defending Class D champion and the top-rated Class D runner in the State ... Finished an excellent 2nd at NY-NXN Regional and 6th at NXN Nationals (#4 returning runner from NXN Nationals).

Brooke set the National Freshmen Steeplechase Record at NY States despite falling at the final barrier (6:45.34) ... Showed much improved speed during track and set PRs at 3000m (9:44.71), 1500m (4:28.87) and 800m (2:15.7 relay split) ... Enters the 2018 season as a top-10 national harrier.

 Phoebe White continued with more excellent XC performances during her sophomore year ... Five speed ratings in the 140s with very good results in the championship races ... she finished 15th at NXN Nationals (the #2 FM scorer and #12 returning NXN runner) ... finished 3rd at Manhattan Easterns.

Once again, Phoebe ran very well in track ... Set PRs at 1500m (4:36.92) and 1000m (2:51.29, 5th at Indoor States) ... Phoebe White and Claire Walters are an outstanding top duo for the FM Girls team.

 Mary Hennelly was the 2015 NY State 8th-Grade Runner-of-the-Year in cross country ... she was injured throughout the 2016 XC season ... came back nicely last year to finish 3rd at Federations and qualify for NXN Nationals ... also won 4 invitational races including a varsity race at Manhattan.

Mary had some very good performances during track including the Steeplechase (6:55.02, 6th at States), 1500m (4:42.98) and 1000m (2:52.84).

speed ratings during XC including a 122 at Section 11 Divisional Championships 
... the State meet rating can be ignored because the Class B race was contested 
on deteriorated muddy course (last race of the State Meet that started out as a 
frozen course).
Kaitlyn demonstrated 
major improvement during track with significant PRs at all distances ... at the 
St. Anthony's Invite, won the Steeplechase in National Freshmen Record 
time (6:48.12 ... later broken by Brooke Rauber) ... Kaitlyn was 
5th at Nationals in the Steeplechase (6:47.71) ... other PRs include the 
1500m (4:45.11), 1000m (2:53.91) and 800m (2:15.66). Definitely a 
runner to watch this coming season.

she is the defending NXN National Champion ... At the national level, Katelyn Tuohy
leads Foot Locker Champion Claudia Lane, but not by as much as some people believe
(a healthy Claudia Lane is only a few speed rating points behind Kately Tuohy).

Kelsey Chmiel is one of the top-four-rated XC runners in the US ... Fayetteville-
Manlius will be led by a very strong duo of Claire Walters and Phoebe White ...
